1 Now these are the names of the sons of Israel, who came into Egypt with Jacob; every man came with his household:

א  וְאֵלֶּה, שְׁמוֹת בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל, הַבָּאִים, מִצְרָיְמָה:

אֵת יַעֲקֹב, אִישׁ וּבֵיתוֹ בָּאוּ.

CIRCUMCISION MOHEL AND SIDRA SHEMOS noted the writings of Rabbi Jacob ben Asher (c. 1270–1340), also known as Ba’al ha-Turim. His name Yaakov ben haRosh wrote including his work The Tur:

The initial and final letters of these two words יִשְׂרָאֵל, הַבָּאִים . When rearranged form the word מִילָה CIRCUMCISION.

Also the final letters of  אֵת יַעֲקֹב, אִישׁ  read in reverse spell שַׁבָּת Shabbos. The word אֵת is usually the object of a verb and is left untranslated in English.In this context, it is understood in its alternative meaning “WITH”. Additionally the Baal Haturim explains why the Torah used the relatively rare אֵת rather than the commoner אִם

Circumcision Mohel delights that in the merit of the Shabbos and of circumcision mohel bris milah, which they observed in Egypt, they were redeemed.
