The origin is recorded in the Book of KingsII 25,1 that the King of Babylon Nebuchadnezzar laid siege to Jerusalem, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month 10 Teves 425 BCE.
This event was told by Hashem to the prophet Ezekiel (Yechezkel) on the day that the siege took place and related to him the day’s events.
